SEE HOW YOU CAN TOO..

WHO ARE THE CURRITUCK CITIZENS AGAINST OLF?

Dear Citizens of Currituck County,

As you well know, the above words are from one of the greatest declarations ever conceived by mankind; they are words from your Declaration of Independence.

Right now, your Federal Government is actively planning and working to take away those very precious and unalienable rights. The government that is instituted among each and every one of us; the government that requires our consent to govern is operating under a shroud of deception and half-truths. It is operating with a secretive urgency to finalize its plans so quickly that it will be too late for you to act.

Some of the greatest players in American history; in fact our founding fathers themselves saw the need for the protection of private property.  John Adams said in A Balanced Government (1790), "Now what liberty can there be where property is taken away without consent?"  Samuel Adams, in The Rights of the Colonists (1772) stated, "Private property and freedom are inseparable."  One of our best known, George Washington stated, "You cannot have a free society without private property."

So why then does the government designed to protect our rights, the government that requires our consent to undertake all of its great endeavors; why does that government feel that it can betray its very purpose and impose upon its citizens the exact oppressions it is designed to prevent? There is no right or just answer to this question.

The OLF (Outlying Landing Field) that is proposed for the edge of Currituck County (known as the Hale's Lake Site) will yield absolutely no positive results. When the Navy uses the word benefit, we respond with "Cui Bono," an old Latin adage that questions to whose benefit and demands an honest explanation of motive. When you look through this website, you too will question the Navy's motives; and you too will realize who comes to the table with dirty hands.

Please browse our site completely. We believe you will come to realize the irreparable damage that will be caused by an OLF at the Hale's Lake Site. We hope that you will join our cause and defend what you have worked so hard for, what you cherish deeply, and what is acknowledged as yours by the very fabric of our land's constitution; that is your land and your rights to "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Sincerely,
Currituck Citizens Against OLF
