The Navy wants to spend hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars - YOUR money - to build an Outlying Landing Field (OLF) they don't need.  The Navy already has landing fields that they               not to use!

It is with deep regret that we report the loss of a dear caring member of our No OLF organization.
Richard Staples of Moyock, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2010.

Over the years Richard has written hundreds of letters and emails about the OLF to our elected representatives. His knowledge of the issue and contributions to the OLF fight were substantial and cannot be replaced.

A friend said, "With a heavy heart I read of this.... What is most troubling is he went to God not knowing what would have happened and spent the last years of his life constantly worrying, and struggling with the unknown. Would the Navy pick Camden, and take away what little he had."

Richard was also encouraging as well as humorous. He lived his entire life with Cerebral Palsy. But never did he feel sorry for himself - he wanted to help and he greatly contributed to our community in ways that may have gone unnoticed to many.

Although Richard was homebound he was able to reach out and connect with people all over the United States. The internet was his portal to the outside world. No one had more email name changes and computer problems than Richard! When he was "slammed by Vista" or when he "gave up hope for Windows", he continued to press on.

Richard Neal Staples, May God bless you and may you rest in peace.
